FX via Red Box?

Just noticed this statement from H&K on one of their blogs...

"...because a direct Red Box signal will be dry, and you’ll need the FOH guys to put some echo/reverb on your signal..."

I'm surprised about this... I haven't utilized the GM's Red Box yet but I had assumed/hoped it would carry the built-in FX... does anyone have any firsthand experience with this?

I don't have mine plugged in right now, but I'm 90% sure that they go through the Red Box. I only tried it to see what it sounded like for a few minutes.

I plugged it in and double checked. The FX do carry through the red Box.

Thanks for doing that man, appreciate it. I've been trying to get the free time to try it myself over the past few days but just haven't had the chance. Thanks so much.

That's odd. I've only run it in my DAW and the reverb and delay came right through.

In my experience, the red box out delivers a speaker emulated version of exactly the sound which is coming from the amps output to a cabinet. Though I've not had my GM36 for long, the first play I had with it was through a PA I had already got set up in the house. I pretty much tweaked everything on the amp to familiarise my self with it and found the audio quality excellent, with all dialed in options clearly audible. I've also run the amp through some fairly chunky active speakers using the red box out, it provides a very valid option in respect of tonality which is actually superb as the aspects of sound associated with running a cabinet from the amps output at high volumes are in some way available at lower volumes from the red box out into a PA or active cabinets. Not had time to run it through my studio yet, but so far it looks like I'm going to be able to achieve tones previously only available for recording using rack or floor effects.
