    cable organization Empty cable organization

Prior to owning the GM I had a TC Electronic G-System and a TM18 head. It was a sweet rig, I rackmounted the G's brain and the TM. On stage, there's only 1 RJ45 cable connecting my entire pedal board to the rack, despite having 2 exp pedals (they simply connected to the G's foot controller). I like a very clean and tidy stage area, and this fit the bill perfectly.

Now with the GM, I have a MIDI cable, 2 instrument cables (my VP is in the amp's fx loop) and likely more in the near future as I'll be adding more stuff to my board. I needed a way to clean up this mess, not just for appearance's sake but also to make setups/tear-downs easier. I know there are a lot of cable organization solutions out there but one in particular was recommended to me by a fellow TC Electronic forum member - The Pedal Python (http://www.pedalpython.com) It's basically some sort of snakeskin type of tube that you feed all your cables into, cinch it up, and you're all set. It's like making your own custom snake, it can accommodate up to 6 cables. I chose the 20' length because my VP cables are 21 feet long and my MIDI cable is 25 feet. If you're in need of a such a solution I highly recommend it. When you're placing your order you deal directly with the owner and the customer service is excellent.

Oh, and I also have a MIDI cable recommendation... the stock MIDI cable that comes with the FSM foot controller is fine for home use but let's face it, it's an economy-grade cable, and in my experience those cables do not hold up to serious use. These 7-pin cables aren't as easy to find as the 5-pin ones. Rocktron makes a 7-pin that looks ok and is inexpensive, but just read the reviews, they fail just as easily as the cheap ones. Eventually I found a place that makes very good quality MIDI cables - www.btpa.com Here's the link for the cable I bought: http://btpa.com/MIDI7-XX.html You can specify any length you want, they are all made to order. A 25 footer will run you about $30. Not too bad for a top quality cable that you will never need to worry about!

Good product. At the moment I'm using spiral wrap but your sleeving approach looks much more professional and convenient. Thanks Gravy.

So with the pedal python does your snake roll up easily?

Yeah it's fine. I had wondered about that at first though, but thankfully it's not an issue. The cables are cinched with Velcro wraps every few feet before the sleeve is pulled on, so it pretty much behaves like 1 big cable. And I really dig the way it looks, very clean and professional.
