The power soak works pretty well, though the by-product is heat so you'll notice the amp gets rather hot. There is no power in relation the cabinet, what you mean is does it have a lot to do with how big a load the driver in the cabinet is. The one watt has its uses, personally I like a little more headroom so run mine higher than that and exercise my democratic right to lower the volume control. Just be sure that your cabinet impedance is over 8 Ohms.

    Regards

This is a great demo of the amp in pretty much every configuration in a working environment. It played a pretty big role in my decision to commit to the amp.

You can play it on any setting in the house. It's going to be your own personal judgement how loud you set the volume control. Clockwise makes it louder, anti clockwise makes it quieter. You'll just have to decide what might disturb other people and what won't and then adjust the volume control until you think it's not too loud. Personally I play mine on 18 watts for home use, I live in a semi, the other folk in the immediate vicinity went deaf years ago.

Cheers I don't own a cab just play through red box it's the first amp I've owned that isn't a practice amp so I've no experiance with cabs or power soak I'm getting a cab but I'm not in a band so I onley play at home just wondered if it was manageable to still play through the cab at home or if it would be pointless getting one (I can't play my music that loud) but the distortion sounds a bit flat playing through red box I guess I'm just guna have to get a cab and see haw it goes cheers any way and thanks for the heads up on the volume knob iv been trying to figure it out 4 ages never thought of twisting it

To answer the question you asked, yes. It can be played just fine at practice volumes. I have a nine year old son (who incidentally also plays guitar so he likely wouldn`t mind) and I don`t stop playing just because he goes to bed, and I play it through a 4X12 cab. If I want it super quiet, I`ll use the direct only through my recording rig.
