He speak the truth Pdox! I actually bought the H&K FSM-432 midi controller when I got the amp, (and I'm tight as anything when it comes to paying out for in house ancillaries). It's phantom powered from the amp which is convenient. Like you it took me a while to bite the bullet and use it, I was always stuck back in the days of setting things up manually and tweaking even in the middle of a number. As soon as I decided that our set list would be better served with preset voices I took the plunge and immediately fell in love.
It's so easy to set up a voice at home, call it up and play it in rehearsal and tweak it, then just hit Store and the original selection button on the pedal and you've trimmed it to suit in real life play. You can even do it at gigs where you are at the real sharp end. And you can have a block of voices set up for different power soak settings so you have the same voices for bedroom, rehearsal and live. I do this by duplicating in blocks 1-8, 9-16,17-24 and 25-32. That way I have 32 voices duplicated for 1W, 5W, 18W, and 36W. It would take you one rehearsal to see how massively it opens up your playing life.
As you already have a decent midi pedal then I would use it but I can confirm the FSM-432 is a good sturdy model. There will be more knowledgeable guys here than me for that and I'm sure they will chime in with good recommendations. I also have mine set up to include a Swell pedal and a Boost footswitch on my board to control the amp. These plug directly into the FSM-432 and can be allocated to whichever channel you need for the function you want to control. A lot of midi pedal units offer this now and it's worth using.
