And do it while in stompbox mode and not preset mode?

I haven't went through everything yet preset wise, so I've been having a blast in stompbox mode. My one complaint is that on led and ultra, the boost only works, a little. In clean it's crazy the difference and in crunch ita a little less but still may more boost than the other two channels.

Thanks for the insight and thanks for doing this board!

I think the boost does increase the amount of gain. And more gain means higher volume...but only to the point where the tubes will compress the sound. So in a clean channel with less max gain the boost has more influence on the volume as it does in the lead and ultra channels, where more gain will compress the signal and increases the sustain.

    But all in my opinion.

That's not a crazy idea at all man - makes sense to me. Which would completely explain why the Ultra channel gets hardly any change except just a little hairier when engaged....

So the next question is - is there a way to adjust how MUCH gain the boost adds?

You could play in lead channel with less gain and then push the boost. Play one more time and adjust the gain without boost until you reach the same level of sustain.

The manual doesn't give much information about boost other than this:

"Boost: Boost targets specific frequency ranges and kicks them up a notch. This yields even more assertive, creamier, or punchier tone, depending on the channel."

I imagine this is a fixed adjustment when engaged.

And it doesn't appear that boost simply increases the overall gain, but rather is setup to cut through the mix more. But that's my take on how they've implemented it. Smile

Yep, that's right. It's boosting certain frequencies (and different ones depending on which channel, you are on), and it's a fixed boost. I, too would like to be able to control how the boost works, but...oh well.

The solution to your problem is to switch to preset mode and develop your presets to have whatever volume/frequency/gain boosts you need.

    Good luck!
