tube amp distortion on the Grandmeister deluxe 40 Empty tube amp distortion on the Grandmeister deluxe 40

    Hi,

I currently use a Tubemeister 36 (which has three different master volumes, one per channel) and leverage the Crunch Channel quite a lot with the crunch master set maximum, the gain low, and the power soak set to 5W. I find this works wonders when using stomp box distortion as i can really leverage power amp distortion in this way, as the stomp boxes effectively cause the power amps to distort.

But now i have my mind set on the Grandmeister Deluxe 40, where things are different: the channels have their own volume (which is really the pre-amp volume) and there is only one master volume.

What would be the best way of leveraging power amp distortion on the Grandmeister Deluxe ? Set the master volume to 12-3 o'clock and use the power soaks and channel volumes to compensate?

    Thanks

nice way of working. I think you will have to try it for yourself. It could work like you've suggested. would be interesting to know how you compare this between the two amp models. do you currently use 5vs40watts or? and is this for band practice use or..?
