I was over at the Kemper forum today and noticed spk77 has a Kemper now and profiled his GM36.

    Interesting...

I saw a few posts from other Kemper users here and I am curious to hear their thoughts more.

Kemper has made some great strides towards sounding better than they used to and the list of professionals using the profiler has become extensive.

I won't be doing anything in regards to new amps or guitars until I see a hand specialist later on this month. I am only able to play once a month now. One thing at a time.

I've heard some interesting things from the Kemper, but for me, even if they could nail it perfectly, I'd still prefer my Triamp.

Not because of some attachment to tubes, though to be sure it's a hell of a lot sexier than a Kemper, but because I think if I owned a Kemper I'd just be fiddling with knobs and LCD screens instead of just flipping the standby to ON and PLAYING.

I literally just signed on for the first time in probably a year to say goodbye to the fine folks here after selling both of my GM36s and getting a Kemper recently. Let me assure you, the hype is valid. I was literally trembling at how authentic some of the profiles are. No, not all of them are good, but by and large the ones that are claimed good are exquisite, and the ones that aren`t are generally poorly profiled. I`m very demanding of my tone, having a very specific sound in mind and without it I just don`t feel connected to what I`m playing (albeit different tones will affect not only how I play but what I play). With the KPW in the studio it sounds beyond doubt like there is a mic`d up amplifier hidden somewhere out of sight and live....straight to the PA (provided the PA is decent and the soundman doesn`t suck at his job. That makes any rig sound bad) is equally impressive and authentic. I played a pickup gig recently and had the other bands asking me where I had my amp because they didn`t see it on stage. A cliche`, sure, but it happened.

There is, and will always be a place for genuine tube amps. No modeler or profiler is going to replace them on that level. But I will tell you that they are a game changer. I`ve got a Carvin Legacy III for my clean sound, a JSX for my rock rhythm, a Diesel for my heavy tone and a Bogner Ecstacy for my lead tone and I would bet money that no one would be able to sincerely tell I don`t have one of each of them set up. Rob Chapman did a blind A/B test video a while back and he was dead f/&%ing wrong in favor of the Kemper on every single comparison. It truly is an amazing device.

I had bought a Kemper shortly after they come out, and did a profile of my Switchblade, and it did get super close even back then. I was using it upstairs, at first in the living room, but when I took it downstairs it was getting, or some sort of nasty loud emf interference, and i sent it back ASAP, at a 200 dollar loss.

The Kemper was interesting, but at the time the EQ adjustments I thought really were not representative of how the amp would sound if you changed the actually settings on the real amp. I thought with making any EQ adjustments on the Kempers preamp it was changing the character too much from how the real amp would work.

I think the Kemper is really close, but I hope that they up the anti with the next offering, and allow you to use an an effects loop to get the exact modelled preamp, tube amp, and speaker models of an modelled amp. This would basically be a effects loop patch between the real amp, and the Kemper.

With the Kemper return I was close to buying a Axe Fx 2, but after struggling to find good sounds in the AXE FX ultra, I passed. Instead I took a flyer, on a Ebay Coreblade Auto bidding purchase, one morning before going to work. It was my if you win the auction, the AXE FX2 was off the table, and I did win it.

I would be really interested to see if the Kemper could model my Coreblade though, now after all the firmware improvements.

I would be worried if I got one now, since the Kemper has been out for quite some time now, that they might bring out a updated product.
