You could start by having a look towards the bottom here:

GM 36 and Line 6 HD500X as MIDI controller

Keep up with that for suggestions.

I'm going to post the tap tempo question on the H & K Facebook page and will post an answer here in the "GM 36 and Line 6 HD500X as MIDI controller" thread if they give us one. Their answer will apply to any MIDI controller that can send more than than just a CC#, most of the decent MIDI controllers can do this...

As I said previously, the FSM footswitch does tap tempo via MIDI, we just need to know the additional parameters to send along with CC#4 "Delay Time" that are required.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that they respond quickly, I intend to keep asking until they do!

Thanks mmiddei and bordonbert!!! Very Happy

I've been thinking... Cool : There's a great post about a PC Editor for ours GM36, so, maybe, to create this editor, the programmer needed the complete MIDI CHART for get all the functions programmed (had a TAP tempo function!)

Am I right? Maybe, if we ask him for this MIDI CHART, will find the CC we need to set TAP tempo, and other functions. Then  we can set ours MIDI Controllers and send this CC?

    What do you think?

Wow, now that's using your head, great idea tangosuite. I can't think of anyone better then the person who wrote MIDI software for the GM... I'll post the question in his thread and see what happens...
    Great thinking brother!

    Hi guys !

Just a quick reply with the information I have regarding delay time and tap tempo.
First of, have a look at H&K's blog post about MIDI : http://blog.hughes-and-kettner.com/128-ways-midi-will-change-your-life-as-a-live-guitarist/
If you look in the comments there are several questions about tap tempo and some answers by H&K.

Basically delay time value is set by CC#4 with midi values ranging from 0 to 127 (MIDI protocol limitation) mapped to actual time values on the GM 36 ranging from 50ms (or is it 80ms?...) to 1360ms (according to the manual) with 10ms steps.

So in order to use an external MIDI controller with tap tempo you need to be able to tell that device that the min value of the FCB delay is 50ms and the max is 1360ms so that it can compute the appropriate MIDI CC value.

Unfortunately, not all MIDI controllers can do that :-/...
The FCB1010 (which is mentioned in H&G blogpost comments) basically maps tap tempo values raging from 0ms to 1270ms, which is quite close to the GM36 range (50ms to 1360ms) and should give a pretty accurate delay time values.
Now for the Line6 devices, I'm not sure what they are capable of in that area, but the comments on the blogpost don't look very promising...

Now for CC#36 used by the FSM, according the the MIDI implementation chart, it's the delay time LSB value, which must give more accuracy the the delay time values generated by the FSM.

    Hope this helped !...

    Regards,

    Fredo.

    Thanks Frodo!

Sadly, my MIDI controller (G-Lab GSC-3) doesn't have this function for MIDI TAP tempo. Crying or Very sad

But...I've been trying up and I can send PG# messages and can access to the presets...So, if I set up the presets before, in a live situation I can call a preset with the delay previously set.Smile

Sadly again, can't find the way to go UP or DOWN calling presets. pale
