Remove the plastic glass? Empty Remove the plastic glass?

    Post by Alibaba5 Thu Dec 17, 2020 9:51 pm

Hello all, can someone help me please?

I have a Duotone, and there is dust exactly behind the glass and the volume buttons etc.

I removed the back plate, but i cant get there, i really need to get behind the glass and buttons.
Its at the front of the silver plate, and at the back of the glass.

    Is there a way?

I dont know to dissasamble the whole thing, i need a step by step tutorial and Google isnt helping.

The plexiglass can be removed after pulling the chassis. Once you have done that, remove the screws on the front panel. Those hold the plexiglass to the chassis. This will allow you to clean the faceplate behind the plexiglass. Also, make sure to remove the screws and metal plate from the top of the headshell before trying to remove the chassis. The plate will fall if you aren't holding it when removing the screws.

I would have thought that you would only need to remove the chassis from the case and then unscrew the four screws on the front to remove it.  I guess it may not be as simple as that.  Is that not how the front panel is held in place?

Haha! Your response got through as I was typing mine. Sounds like you know the Duotone better than I do Colejustesen.

Looks like you have a starting point Alibaba. Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

The plexiglass is pushed up against the headshell from the inside. If you remove the front screws while in the headshell, you won't be able to remove it.

    Thanks for the help all!

I am gonna try it soon.

I was thinking, what if i unscrew the 3 screws at the top what holds the glass, and unscrew the front screws?
Or do i really need to remove everything out of the chassis?

The plexiglass is pushed up against an overlapping edge of the headshell. You have to remove it from the back of the headshell.
