    Hey Guys!

I'm a proud new member of the Grandmeister family and love to develop my own presets over the iRig Midi connection and the Grandmeister App. I play in a Bluesrock/Hardrock cover band, so I did presets for every song...what about sharing some presets?  afro

Congrats on the amp. Mine is new, as well. What cab are you using?

H&K have said they will be launching a preset sharing tool on their site, but I haven't seen anything, yet. We'll have to do things the old fashioned way for now.

BTW, great user name! I love me some cachaça!

Definitely interested in sharing presets. Still learning the amp though so sticking to the stock sounds for now.

Great! I hoped to get some positive replies! I have to say, that I´m still learning the amp too. There are so much ways to tune the sound...among the great eq settings there are much more options with presence and resonance. I´m heating a 2 x 12 Box from Palmer with Celestion G12M-25 "Greenbacks" and the way you can tune it with the RESONANCE knob is amazing. With less resonance you can thin the guitar, as the humbuckers sound like single coils...and with much resonance it sounds like Rooaar! So I think the connected speakers are very important for the amp...and for the presets.

So if we will share some presets, we should tell the connected speakers. I don´t like the Celestion Vintage 30 because imo they sound too "harsh"...don´t know how to describe. The Greenbacks are much warmer...sometimes too warm...so I have to set the presence higher in some songs. Vintage 30 could sound to "trebly" with my settings.

I will share my settings this evening and hope to get some feedback!

    Here is my preset file:
    GM36 Preset File Kaipirinha

Only Banks 1-6 are used for my personal presets. The others are stock.
Some presets are for rhythm guitar, some for lead.
Take caution: All presets are running on 18 W at least.
My Master volume is set to 10:30 o' clock.

Hope to get some feedback!  Smile

    Cheers

Hey Kaipirinha. I've been out of town for the the last week or so. When I get a chance to backup my existing presets, I'll check out yours. Unfortunately, I usually only have a small window of time to play during the week (3 year olds are a handful!). So, with 30 minutes or so, I usually just want to play.

    Soon!

I don't have an IPad (yet at least), I tried using the Android app with my Nook but no luck with that. There is the control panel that fredo is making. The next part for that is to save the settings to disk which fredo is working on. For people with out the IPad that will be an additional way to share.

Very happy to share a couple tones (Once I figure out how to do it).
Right now I only use a few banks but duplicate them in different wattages.
    IE.
    Banks 1 - 10 are all 36W
    Banks 11-20 are all 18W
    Banks 21-26 are 5W
    Banks 27-32 are 1W

My process is to generally duplicate my main tone in 1A from 36W to 18/5/1 Then i just tweak the tones a little to compensate. This is great for the different size of venues I play.

One the things I am trying is to create some clean tones at 36w and crunch/lead at 18 so I can get more head room for cleans and more output tube saturation at 18 (don't think there would be enough volume to do anything at 5w). Has anyone else tried this?

Yep this is my normal usage too. My master volume is about 7-8 o clock, which is way too loud for the 36w mode. So I play crunch/lead mostly in 18w mode. To get full and bluesy cleans, I play in the 36w mode.

PS: I have to say, that my grandmeister got another preamp and poweramp tubes...so I can play at this master volume level. With stock tubes the 7-8 o clock will be dangerous! ;-)

I read what you did with the tube swapping. I haven't changed anything but am struggling to get the clean sound I like so think I will have to try swapping tubes. Unfortunately all I have are a bunch of mesa boogie tubes to try, don't know if that will make much difference.

Mesa Boogie preamp tubes or poweramp tubes? I've read good things about the boogie preamp tubes. Will be a very nice upgrade!

Both power and preamp. I assume pre-amps make the most difference with the GM36. Actually I just saw a friend of mine who gave me a bunch of different preamp tubes to try Smile.

Kai, I bought the GM36 recently and I'm still learning the amp. I set up the iPad App and have been playing around with it a little. I also saved your presets from the link earlier in this thread but have a newb question, I'm not sure how to to save them to the iPad? Once I do that will it "overwrite" the factory presets when I hook the iPad up to the GM? Thanks for my help, I'm anxious to try out your presets. Scott

    Hi Scott!

    Congrats to your new amp!

The uploaded file is outdated because I switched my tubes (now 2 times, I got some wonderful Mullard EL84) and so I changed all presets.

I have changed the uploaded file, but the new version still had been made with the stock tubes. The most presets will run in 5w mode so you can give it a try and increase the master volume to get more power amp distortion! :-)

You don't have to be anxious to import my settings. When you open the link and download the gm36settings file, you have to choose a programm to open the file. Once you choose "open with..." and start the H&K tool, the setting will be saved in the tool's library as "loadbox-import-2015-01-11" or something like that. "loadbox" is the name of my preset because I run most presets with the integrated loadbox. Choose the setting and use "transfer app memory to amp" to upload the settings.

The factory presets are saved in the library too. You can choose them and "transfer app memory to amp" without danger.

    Greetings

Yeah, I've been discussing about the preset file formats with my contact at Hughes & Kettner.
The iPad application uses Apple specific binary plist files while my editor used plain text files.
They don't have the resources right now to change the iPad app preset format, but I discovered that Apple released source code to parse the binary plist format.
I need to look into this, but I should be able to use this code to write a converter and make the desktop editor capable of reading the iPad .gm36memory files.
