I've messed around with using EQ pedals before, and I usually ended up ditching them because they screwed with the natural sound of the amp and made it sound weird.
The exception is if your amp/rig is genuinely missing something EQ-wise. I used to use a combination of gear (Les Paul, Blackstar pedal, Marshall cabinet) that was very dark sounding, so I used an always-on parametric EQ to boost the mids. Cheap chinese pedal that I got for £30, but it made all the difference in my guitar actually being audible in a band mix.
As guitarists we're never happy and always want to tweak more. But personally I think the GM40 has a great natural sound so I feel no need to EQ it further, but it will all depend on your cabinet, room etc.
