Using a looper pedal in the effects loop

I would like to use a looper pedal and capture the effects on the patch can anyone tell me if this is possible? If the effects loop is before the onboard effects I assume it's not possible. Thanks

I found the answer in https://handkusers.forumotion.com/t146-fx-loop-question and the effects are post loop making it impossible to include in the looper pedal recording unless anyone else has an idea I haven't considered. What a shame.

This is going to seem like a daft question but when you say capture do you mean to catch them and use them to play with immediately at that time (as you normally would with a looper), or could you live with capturing them and using them after a little rejigging of connections?

The reason I ask is because the Preamp Out socket is post internal effects so you could use that to capture your playing with effects applied then re-attach the looper into the Fx Loop to play along with. Not a perfect solution but it should work. With just a box and a stomp switch you could even create a dedicated switch unit to swap between Capture and Playback modes if it made it more usable.

Thanks both for replying. Yes using a looper in the normal way so that you create a patch with delay and reverb turn the looper on play and record a couple of bars. Then I want to change to a different patch with different delay and reverb settings and play over the loop I recorded. However as I understand it the recorded loop will not contain the original delay and reverb but those of the second patch I changed to. However I like your thinking on using another output did yiu mean the redbox DI out when you said preamp? I wonder if I could use that, send it to the input of the looper and send the return to the effects loop return? Maybe even use the line out to feed the looper? I wonder if that's pre or post onboard effects? Cheers

No Pete, I was talking about the Preamp Out as that is how it is labelled in my documentation.  On the back of the amp it is described as Line Out to Power Amp.  The Line/Preamp Out definitely is after the effects so what you record from there will definitely have the internal effects on it as you set them for your recording and will keep them.  It is just a finished recording of that signal after all.  The Line Out to Power Amp is just what it says, it is the signal after everything that the preamp does to it and immediately before it is fed to the power amp.

You could use the Redbox out but that has the power amp and also the speaker emulation circuitry affecting it as well.  That is intended to be fed to a clean amplifying system, your PA or a desk, and to sound exactly like what you are getting from your speakers.  I would think the Line/Preamp Out is the best way to explore.  But as you described it, feeding the looper signal back into the Fx Loop Return will lay the new set of effects over the looper signal too which already has its own effects settings on it so it may not work out for you.
