I use an HD500x for a midi controller, changing both patches/presets and parameters/functions.

I've heard somewhere that the pod hd models can be used as a controller but the x3 live wasn't working so great. Would be great to find out if it could work

Oh, I bet that's cool. Do you run in 4cm?

No, because all I need is delay, reverb, and an occasional simple effect. I use the HD500x for midi control, noise gate, eq, overdrive, volume pedal and wah, ya know, just front end stuff. I initially bought a tm36 and did run 4CM with the HD500x.  But the GM36's midi features allows me to basically model with tubes.  I used to model, and am a programmer by day, so I just couldn't turn that down.  If I wasn't playing just southern rock (Allman Brothers tribute) and needed more effects,I would run 4cm
