BS200 Floor FX send to return on another amp no effects? Empty BS200 Floor FX send to return on another amp no effects?

Just got a BS200 Floor but unfortunately don’t have a cab yet. I was hoping to use the Black Spirit with the FX loop send to the return of my Marshall Origin which works fine except that none of the BS effects are coming through.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Hi Nick.  I'm no BS200 expert, I'm more in tune with the TM/GM type amps, but this seems likely to be a pretty straightforward problem.  I would assume that the internal effects are applied after the external loop.  That way when you take your signal out to your Origin at the front end of the loop they have not yet been processed by the internal effects.  That is the way that other H&K amps are set up so it seems like a standard H&K design decision.  Remember this would not be a problem if you were using the loop as just a loop and feeding back into the Return.  It's an oddity as you are using it unconventionally.

Can you take the signal out from later in the signal path just as a test?  Maybe just try the Redbox Output to check this out?  You don't even need to have it feeding into your Marshall, a PA will do, (I'm thinking of your having a usable XLR cable here).  Remember there is a Line/Mic level selector for that output.  It may not be the overall sound you are looking for as you could now have two power amps and two speaker setups in the chain with the Marshall, but it will tell you if the internal effects are in play.  If you get those internal effects becoming active then you know that I am right.

Of course another way to test it is to feed the Origin's Loop Send into the BS200 Loop Return and see if the BS200 effects then work.

Yeah that’s what I was assuming. I was hoping there would be a way to change the position of the fx send in the signal chain somewhere in the settings but guessing that’s not possible. Sending the loop back in the BS probably wouldn’t help in this case. Using the Redbox is probably the best idea but will have to get the proper cable and adapter. Thanks for confirming bordonbert.
