4 ohm cab on a grandmeister? Empty 4 ohm cab on a grandmeister?

Post by Kaipirinha Thu May 07, 2015 12:09 am

    Hi!

The speaker output of the grandmeister says that it will take 8-16 ohm cabs.
But I have read in a Hughes & Kettner Blog, that it will also run with 4 ohm cabs.
This config will only lessen the mids of the cab. But you have to take caution!?

Anyone tried this? My 4x12 cab can be configured to 4 ohm and I will give it a try.
But I don't know nothing bout the long time effects on the amp.

    Greetings
    Kai

I've read the same blog, and was curious about this. I've never tried it myself, but I'm curious. When in doubt, ask the guys on their Facebook page.

The GM does plate current sensing and some type of load sensing - I'd be afraid their circuit might trip during a gig, mid-solo.
