Replacement Tubes

Hi all,

I was having horrible popping and crackling with my brand new GM36. As suggested i shipped it to Yorkville (the H&K Distributor in NY). Mike and James were awesome! i shipped it up there. They determined the 4 power tubes were faulty, replaced them, tested thoroughly and sent back. I've been using it for a week now and its back to the way it was when i bought it!!!!

The EL84's look to be TAD type. I think they have a nicer tone than the originals! This was all done under warranty. Quite happy its back up and running!

Good to hear someone reporting a positive experience. That's not because they are so rare, just that the only ones you hear about are the negatives. Long live the silent majority, my evening is a little brighter!

Yay! Glad to see H&K back up their product - and another happy GM36 user.
It is my only partially knowledgeable understanding the TAD is not really a brand, just a distributor that tests tubes and slaps their name on them. Most - well all that I've dealt with test their tubes before selling them. I suggest buying a couple of JJs, EHs, Sovteks, etc, and play with them - they do all sound subtly different. Also try a 5751 in place of a 12AX7 in V1/2 position.
